We are seeking applicants for a postdoc position in the lab of Dr. Silvia Jansen at Washington University in St. Louis, Department of Cell Biology and Physiology. The Jansen lab uses a combination of genetics, biomimetic systems, cell imaging, multi-color in vitro TIRF microscopy and single molecule techniques to study actin cytoskeleton dynamics. More specifically, we are focused on how two important, but heavily understudied families of actin-binding proteins, the Tropomyosins and the Coronins, play a role as regulatory hubs that generate different actin filament populations that are optimally suited to mediate intracellular trafficking, cell migration, cytokinesis or cell adhesion.
MD/PhD or PhD degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related fields.
Demonstrate the ability to lead projects to completion through peer-reviewed journals.
Expertise and experience with cell culture, protein biochemistry and advanced microscopy.
Ability to work independently, yet maintain open communication with peers.
Authorship on peer-reviewed publications.
Experience working with protein purification.
Experience with advanced microscopy approaches, including, but not limited to, TIRF microscopy, spinning disc confocal microscopy, optogenetics, lattice light sheet microscopy and super resolution microscopy.
Expertise in data analysis, and computer programming.
Experience with molecular biology techniques.
Experience with developing image processing algorithms.
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.Â The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Base pay is commensurate with experience.
