Position Summary:
An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Technician I position in the Neuroscience field in the laboratory of SUNY Distinguished Professor Zhen Yan, Ph.D. in Department of Physiology and Biophysics, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). The research goal is to understand the epigenetic and synaptic mechanisms of a variety of brain disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and stress-associated mental illnesses. Transgenic mouse models, human postmortem tissues, and human stem cell-derived neurons are used to uncover pathophysiological basis and treatment strategies for these CNS diseases. A combination of cutting-edge biochemical, behavioral, molecular biological, electrophysiological, chemogenetic, optogenetic, and transcriptomic approaches are used in their research. More than 150 publications on high-quality journals have been generated to report their scientific findings. The primary responsibility associated with this Research Technician I position will be to perform mouse behavioral assays, mouse brain surgeries and basic biochemical experiments. Secondary responsibilities include assistance other lab members conducting neuroscience research in the laboratory.

- Assist and advise researchers, students and technicians as needed
The candidate should be familiar with animal experiments. The successful candidate will work under the direction of lab head or other senior research personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Biology or other related field
- Experience working as part of a team in an academic research laboratory
- Computer skills for data analyses
- Strong communication skills
- Desire and ability to learn new skills quickly
Preferred Qualifications:
Research experience/interest in animal behavioral and basic biochemical assays is highly preferred.
