Description: Baylor University seeks a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation (HHPR).
Responsibilities:The successful candidate is expected to engage in collaborative and translational research endeavors with existing and future faculty members and contribute to the department's mission. The successful candidate will establish an independent research program that leads to extramural funding by the time of tenure review. The candidate will teach courses in exercise physiology and/or related areas and engage in professional, departmental, and university service. The successful candidate will be effectively involved in undergraduate and graduate programs to mentor students and synergize bench research, clinical research, and field-based programs.
The Department: The Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation (https://hhpr.robbins.baylor.edu/) offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate (master's and doctoral degrees) programs. The department has state-of-the-art research facilities capable of conducting translational biomedical research in humans and its complementary animal/cell culture models. The Baylor Lab for Exercise Science and Technology (BLEST) is set up to conduct research in cardiovascular, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, and environmental physiology and metabolic function. The newly opened Exercise, Nutrition, and Biochemistry Lab (Mooney Lab) has the capacity to conduct a vast array of research focusing on underpinning biochemical and cell/molecular mechanisms of physical activity. The Department currently has collaborative ties with the Baylor College of Medicine, Baylor Scott and White Health, the VA's Center for Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans (i.e., VISN17 CoE), and several local clinical settings.

Qualifications: Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in kinesiology, applied physiology, exercise science, or a closely related field.
Previous post-doctoral and university-level instructional experiences are highly desirable.
Special consideration will be given to candidates who complement and advance ongoing research within the department and inter-departmental collaborative research efforts within Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences and other colleges with interests in promoting health.
Research conducted largely or partly in human subjects is highly desirable to balance the department's research portfolio.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a track record of research expertise with a strong potential of securing extramural funding, with priority for candidates with ongoing or upcoming funding (including training grants).
