Medical Educator with Expertise in Neurosciences
The University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine is seeking a medical science educator with expertise in teaching neurosciences, for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D., M.D./D.O., or equivalent terminal degree in the biomedical sciences
Evidence of substantial formal training in neurosciences, neuroanatomy, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following additional attributes:
Experience teaching neuroscience or neuroanatomy, especially clinically integrated neuroscience for medical students and/or graduate students.
Experience in teaching other basic, clinical, or health system sciences
Experience leading or assisting in the delivery of courses to medical students and/or graduate students
Formal training or experience in educational theory, instructional design, and/or evaluation and assessment
A track record of scholarship related to biomedical sciences or medical education
Experience with computer or simulation-based instructional methods
In addition to the above, opportunities for involvement in basic science, clinical, and/or translational research can be discussed for qualified and interested applicants. This position also comes with the opportunity for a joint appointment in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology for qualified candidates.
Physician candidates applying must be Board Certified (ABMS recognized), must qualify for an unrestricted Alabama Medical License, or must agree to obtain an unrestricted Alabama Medical License within 2 years of employment.
