Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of Biological Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Vertebrate Physiology, beginning 5 August 2024.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate degree (MS) program courses with a variable 9 to 12 credit hour instructional load, including courses on Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 307 and 308), requisite courses in the Biomedical Sciences/Pre-PA major/concentration, and several programs in the College of Health Science. Additional responsibilities may include instruction in Careers in Biomedical Sciences (BIO 332), introductory Biology majors' courses and/or the candidate's area of expertise. The new faculty member will participate in pre-professional advising of Biomedical Science majors.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an active research program, to pursue extramural funding from regional or national agencies, to mentor undergraduate and graduate (MS) students, and to interact with other faculty in relevant areas of mutual interest. Areas of research may include, but are not limited to, vertebrate physiology, cell biology, developmental biology or embryology, endocrinology, and neurobiology.
Ph.D. or equivalent is required at the time of hire in biology (vertebrate physiology) or a related field from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited or internationally recognized institution.
