Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology (EEOB) at Iowa State University (ISU) seeks a comparative animal physiologist or ecophysiologist. This position is part of a broader hiring initiative to expand established departmental and campus-wide expertise in environmental sustainability and global change biology. The ideal candidate will have an integrative physiology research program on any animal taxon/a, and using any mixture of classic and modern tools, to study the ecology and/or evolution of animal-environment interactions. The successful candidate is expected to establish a major, externally funded research program and contribute to undergraduate and graduate education, including teaching in human and comparative physiology. This is a tenure-track, 9-month appointment in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the rank of assistant professor.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or equivalent in ecology, evolutionary biology, or closely related fields.
Publications in nationally or internationally recognized journals.Â

Ability to conduct impactful research
Research experience and interests in comparative animal physiology / ecophysiology
Ability to provide effective teaching and student learning
Ability and commitment to contribute to the Department and Universityâs Principles of Community
Department/Program & College Description:
The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology is a collaborative and collegial community of about 70 faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and staff addressing a wide range of research questions using multiple approaches that bridge traditional scientific disciplines and span levels of biological organization. EEOB is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). The department administers undergraduate programs in Biology, Environmental Science, and Genetics, and our faculty participate actively in multiple interdepartmental graduate programs, including Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Science, Genetics and Genomics, and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.Â
