Assistant Professors - Health Promotion & Exercise Physiology
The University of Oklahoma, Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Health and Exercise is hiring two tenure-track assistant professors through a cluster hire in the areas of Health Promotion and Exercise Physiology. One position will focus on Health Promotion with an emphasis on metabolic health, and the other will focus on Exercise Physiology with an emphasis on metabolic function.
This posting is for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in Health Promotion, with an expected start date of Fall 2026. Applicants should have a research focus in Health Behaviors Associated with Metabolic Disorders and Associated Co-Morbidities such as Cancer. Assistant professors in the Department of Health and Exercise Science have a workload distribution of teaching (45%), research (45%), and service (10%).
About the Department
The Department of Health and Exercise Science is a growing interdisciplinary program and one of the largest in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences with more than 1100 undergraduate students, more than 50 graduate students, and 17 faculty. It is nationally ranked by the National Academy of Kinesiology. The program focuses on Exercise Physiology and Health Promotion and integrates the biological, physiological, medical, and behavioral sciences as they relate to physiological responses to exercise and other aspects of human health. As it relates to this position, the department offers a B.S. degree in Health and Exercise Science, M.S. degrees in Health Promotion, Exercise Physiology, and Sports Data Analytics, and Ph.D. degrees in Health Promotion, Exercise Physiology, and Cellular and Behavioural Neuroscience.

Minimum Qualifications
PhD or equivalent in Health Promotion/Public Health/Health Education or related Applicants who are ABD will be considered, but they must have obtained their terminal degree by Fall 2026.
A planned research agenda with a focus on health behaviors broadly associated with metabolic disorders and associated co-morbidities.
Record of published research or research
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to collaborate within the department and across the university.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach and develop both undergraduate and graduate courses related to Health Promotion.
Preferred Qualifications:
An established research agenda that focuses on either of the following: 1) health and risk behavior prevention related to metabolic disorders, and/or 2) community-based health promotion interventions with a primary focus on metabolic disorders.
Teaching experience in Health Promotion courses (undergraduate and/or graduate). Previous experiences teaching courses such as program planning, community assessment, program evaluation, health promotion theory, or research methods.
Faculty who can add to the research mission of the department while complementing and broadening the research expertise of the faculty
Evidence of current or past external funding or potential to secure funding in the
