The Department of Pharmacology and Systems Physiology (PSP) at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, invites applications for a faculty position (open rank). The Department provides exciting opportunities to build an internationally recognized research program leveraging the current strengths of the department, including cardiovascular physiology, systems biology, and neuroscience. A successful candidate is expected to incorporate state-of-the-art, interdisciplinary approaches in pharmacology and/or physiology, develop a high-profile program of scholarly research, and excel in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level. Candidates that incorporate computational and/or mathematical modeling approaches are encouraged to apply. All faculty are expected to participate in the department’s teaching mission of graduate, medical and undergraduate courses, and demonstrate a commitment to service within the university and at the national level.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and diverse department, with new leadership. The Department houses cutting-edge facilities that support research areas that include intravital microscopy, in vitro and in vivo models of disease, rodent behavioral assessment, and membrane and cell physiology. Salary will be commensurate based on experience and accompanied by a highly competitive start-up package. There is also a substantial retirement savings plan.

Essential Functions
Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching
Evaluate and develop curriculum for department and/or college
Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars
Serve as an academic adviser for students and evaluate student coursework
Serve on college or university committees and participate in curriculum development activities
Serve on graduate committees, supervise laboratories (where appropriate), independent study activities, and off-campus learning
Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities
Render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual’s academic specialty
Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications
Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Required Education Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with emphasis in Pharmacology, Physiology or a related discipline, and a minimum of 2 years post-doctoral experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered A demonstrated record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications. Candidates applying for above the level of Assistant Professor, must demonstrate a strong record of securing external funding, a sustained record of excellent research productivity, and an outstanding national reputation in their field.
