Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for a full-time, teaching-focused, tenure track position in Biology to teach undergraduate courses in Animal Physiology, Comparative Anatomy, Zoology or Evolution, Biocommunication, and additional courses such as Development, and/or other coursework based upon the expertise of the applicant.

Qualifications for the position include:
A Ph.D. related to a topic in Biology, Animal Physiology, or related field, or a date of Ph.D. defense completion by May 2025.
The Biology Department offers small class sizes in the upper-division classes and many opportunities to mentor, advise, and work closely with students as a supervisor in our student managed work program. We work on a beautiful, small campus in central Illinois, where our faculty and staff generally work closely with one another on committees, assessment, and professional development. The Biology Department has state-of-the-art, modern facilities in a LEED certified building along with green-houses and a vivarium. We offer dedicated lab space to support both teaching and undergraduate student research for each faculty member of the department. The college has access to both on- and off-campus field sites for research and teaching lab field trips. Blackburn is both a Bee Campus and a Tree Campus as a result of efforts originating in the Biology Department.
Position requirements:
Keep scheduled office hours
Attend Division meetings and regular Faculty Assembly meetings
Teach 2 or more courses per semester, based on student need and faculty availability
Advise students (typically after the first year in the position)
Supervise students workers as Teaching Assistants
Regular reporting, both semesterly and annually
Service to the college via committee membership (typically after the first year in the position)
Assist with recruiting efforts by visiting with incoming students

Salary Range: $54,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience.
