The Health and Human Physiological Sciences Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2026-2027 academic year. This is a 1-year appointment with responsibilities in teaching and department service. The Health & Human Physiological Sciences Department is located in the recently opened Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences, a state-of-the-art teaching and learning space that fosters unique interdisciplinary connections across the sciences.
Responsibilities
Teach 18 contact hours (typically 9/semester) in undergraduate courses, including: Introduction to Exercise Physiology Lecture and/or Lab, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Research Techniques, and/or Advanced Exercise Physiology with Lab.
Opportunity to supervise independent study projects or senior thesis projects (additional compensation).
The successful candidate will join an energetic and collegial department that is passionate about teaching and conducting research with undergraduates. Collaborative research opportunities (pre-clinical to clinical/applied physiology) will be available and encouraged, though not required.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in the area of exercise/applied physiology/kinesiology or related field, although A.B.D. candidates and applicants with an MS degree may be considered.
Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate teaching experience. However, the department views this opportunity as a teaching postdoctoral fellowship with opportunity for mentorship and professional development through the department and the Center for Leadership, Teaching, and Learning (CLTL).
Salary: $68,989.00
