The Department of Medical Physiology in the Texas A&M University College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate professor rank. Individuals holding a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, with an outstanding record of innovative research and scholarly performance, and with demonstrated expertise in areas of research broadly related to physiology are encouraged to apply. The search is focused on research addressing current challenges in neural and endocrine contributions to diseases of metabolism (obesity, type II diabetes, metabolic syndrome, etc.), cardiovascular function (hypertension, chronic heart failure, etc.) and digestion (GERD, Celiac, Crohn's/IBS, etc.).

The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive start-up package and state-of-the-art laboratory space in our newly built Medical Research and Education Building at Texas A&M University. Expectations include maintaining a vigorous externally funded research program, providing exemplary mentorship, engaging in productive scientific collaborations, and contributing to the teaching mission of the department. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to recruitment and training of graduate students through our Medical Sciences Graduate Program. The successful candidate will benefit from both collaborations and resources provided by multiple centers/institutes at Texas A&M University, including the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI), Center for Airborne Pathogen Research and Imaging (CAPRI), Clinical Science and Translational Research (CSTR) Institute, Institute of Pharmacology and Neurotherapeutics (IPN), Institute for Regenerative Medicine (IRM), as well as our one-of-a-kind aerospace medicine and health initiative.

Qualifications
Required:
PhD., MD, or equivalent professional degree
Advanced training in cellular, molecular, and/or circuit-level neuroscience
Demonstrated scholarship reflected in peer-reviewed research publications and grant funding appropriate for their career stage
Preferred:
Advanced training/experience with real-time measures of pre- and postsynaptic functions among individual central nervous system neurons with the capacity to interrogate functional outcomes at the neural circuit and/or whole animal level
Experience with state-of-the-art neuroscience techniques including, but not limited to, electrophysiology, optogenetic and/or chemogenetic approaches, and/or advanced microscopy/imaging techniques
